“Have You Treated My Condition Before?” Read below to see ...

ree

If you’re thinking about seeing a homeopath, you might be wondering, “Have you treated my condition before?” It’s a totally reasonable question—and one I hear all the time. But here’s the twist: in homeopathy, that’s not really the main thing you want to know.

Sounds odd, right? Stick with me—I’ll explain.

It’s Not About the Name of the Condition

Here’s the deal: in homeopathy, we’re not just looking at your diagnosis. We’re looking at you.

Let’s say three different people walk in with eczema. They all have red, itchy skin, maybe even oozing patches. But when I talk with them more deeply, I discover:

  • One gets the itch worse at night and can’t stop scratching in bed.

  • Another finds it flares after eating dairy and gets angry when it’s bad.

  • The third only gets it in winter and feels super anxious and restless at the same time.

Same label—eczema. Totally different people. So, they won’t all get the same remedy.

So How Does a Homeopath Actually Work?

When you sit down with a homeopath, we’re not just asking, “Where does it itch?” We're also asking:

  • What makes it better or worse?

  • How do you feel emotionally when it flares?

  • What’s your sleep like? Your digestion? What foods do you crave or avoid?

  • Have you been through stress or trauma recently?

This might sound like a lot of questions for a skin condition, but those clues help us figure out your pattern. We treat the person, not the label.

So back to that original question: “Have you treated my condition before?” My answer is:“Yes—but more importantly, I’ve treated people who had this condition. And each one was different.”

Does Experience Still Matter?

Absolutely. A homeopath who’s been around the block will probably recognize patterns more quickly. They'll know how to adjust when things don’t go as planned. They’ll also have a better feel for when to change a remedy, or when to wait.

But what matters most is this: can they see you clearly? Can they take in your full story, ask the right questions, and choose a remedy that fits—not just your skin symptoms, but your whole self?

What Should You Look for in a Homeopath?

Here are a few things that matter more than whether they’ve treated your exact condition:

  • Good listening skills – Do they really hear you?

  • Curiosity – Are they digging for the deeper layers, or just checking boxes?

  • Experience with a variety of people – Chronic conditions, sensitive kids, trauma backgrounds… it all helps.

  • Follow-through – Are they available for support, and do they explain next steps?

You want someone who’s both grounded and flexible. Someone who sees your condition, sure—but also your stress, your schedule, your story.

Final Thoughts

In homeopathy, the best results come from treating you—not just your diagnosis.

So instead of asking, “Have you treated my condition before?” maybe try:

  • “How do you approach conditions like mine?”

  • “What do you need to know about me to choose the right remedy?”

  • “How do you support people through the ups and downs of chronic healing?”

Because when you find a homeopath who sees the whole picture—you’re already halfway home.
